I have written to the First Minister urging him to deliver on pre-election promises to directly award the contracts for four vessels to Ferguson Marine. The Scottish Government must identify other future work for the yard in light of the recent risk of job losses.
Coastguard Rescue Officers
I welcome the decision that the Maritime and Coastguard Agency will not proceed with plans to cut remuneration for Coastguard Rescue Officers including at Ardrossan, Largs and Cumbrae. GMB Scotland deserve credit for their successful campaigning on this important issue.

It was great to join the Open Seas Scotland Coalition last month as they presented their 15,000 plus petition to the Scottish Government calling for 30% of Scotland’s inshore waters to be protected from dredging and bottom trawling.
Banking hub for Largs
Largs has over 11,000 residents but will be left without a single bank from this summer. Residents must be able to access face-to-face banking services. The Scottish Government must help deliver a banking hub for Largs.
Winter timetable cuts to the Largs-Cumbrae ferry route
I have written to the Scottish Government urging them to engage with the local community, CalMac and Transport Scotland to stop proposed cuts to the winter timetable on the Largs-Cumbrae ferry route. Cuts made to the summer timetable must also be reversed.

Rail services to Glasgow Central to be restored tomorrow
