I have been contacted by Cumbrae residents who are concerned about CalMac proposals for scheduled maintenance windows.

These proposals could see services withdrawn for either six hours per week or one 24 hour period per month, which would represent a direct cut to the island’s vital lifeline ferry services.

I am clear that CalMac and Transport Scotland must act on the concerns of residents and drop these damaging proposals.

The Scottish Government must also provide a reassurance that there will be no reduction in service and capacity this year, and that this year’s summer timetable will match that of last year.
