Thank you to all who participated in the consultation on my proposed member’s bill to reform Freedom of Information (FOI). I was pleased to see such a cross-section of the public providing submissions, from individuals to campaigners and those representing organisations such as housing associations, health boards, local authorities and trade unions. FOI affects almost every area of politics and how our society is run, and I believe there is overwhelming support for reforms.
Over the coming weeks, my office will be fully analysing the responses and publishing a summary, with a draft version of the bill set to follow thereafter. I will then seek cross-party support with a view to introducing the bill in the Scottish Parliament. A reminder of my key proposals are linked in this video below.
