I have received a number of letters from constituents concerned about Stagecoach’s proposed cuts to the vital X34 and X36 services. These are currently the only bus services that connect Garnock Valley, an area holding a population of around 20,000 people, and Glasgow, which is just over 20 miles away. These cuts will mean residents who rely on these services for work, education, family visits and health appointments, or who need to access amenities only available in the city, will be forced to either spend more money to travel during a cost of living crisis or opt for car journeys at a time when the Government’s stated aim is to increase public transport usage. I support any campaign to reverse these cuts and have written to the First Minister directly, which you can read below.
